Lokoro Community Policy 

Our Community and Content Policies

Every day, Singaporeans use Lokoro to discover and participate in activities around their neighbourhood.  We are a platform that aims to connect neighbours, local businesses, non-profit organizations and public agencies to build communities for good. While we like to keep the Lokoro free for all to share information and express themselves, we also strive to keep the platform a safe and curated environment for all so that all users can have a pleasant experience on our platform.  Therefore, we have a set of policies that will help guide users on an enjoyable journey as they venture into their neighbourhood on Lokoro.

 

Our LokoChampions on the platform will be on a constant look-out for any activities or content that might be harmful for the community and the Lokoro team reserves all rights to take down posts or close user accounts it deems as having a negative impact on the community. The “Report Post” function is also available for every post should any users come across any inappropriate or unwanted content that infringes against the vision and mission of Lokoro. 

 

Users of Lokoro need to adhere to the following policies:

 

Legality

All users of Lokoro need to comply with the applicable laws of Singapore when using the platform.  The platform should not be used to promote any products, services and businesses deemed illegal in the country. Business users of Lokoro need to ensure they comply with the relevant government regulation necessary to promote or sell their products and services on the platform.  

 

Safety

To ensure safety, users should not use Lokoro as a medium to promote actions or ideas of violence and danger to the community. As such, any post/content that contains the following information and related will be flagged for review and taken down if needed:

 

  • Content that promotes dangerous behaviour

  • Content that propagates and condones violence and infighting

  • Content that is harmful to children

  • Sexually explicit content

  • And any version of content that is deemed unsafe to the community

Inclusivity

To ensure inclusivity, users should not post any content that seeks to discriminate against any groups of people by race, language, religion, sexuality and / or disabilities. Expressions, comments, or ideas that threaten people against one another, including the potential to intimidate, exclude or silence others, are all prohibited on Lokoro. 

 

Authenticity

To ensure authenticity, we want to provide good quality and curated content on the Lokoro platform. As such, users are not allowed to create fake alias and duplicate accounts or promote any false information or promotion in the neighbourhood. These content, not limited to, are as the below examples:

 

  • Falsified business information and promotion

  • Duplicate alias to pretend to be another user or businesses

  • Fake news and information about the neighbourhood and the community 

  • Spam messages and bot-like notifications and disclaimers

 

Political Neutrality

To ensure political neutrality, users of Lokoro should not use the platform to promote political ideologies or for political campaigning.  While we recognize the importance of constructive politics for the purpose of nation-building, Lokoro’s main objective is to bring people together for common social good. There are other platforms conducive for social debate and discourse, but Lokoro aims to be politically neutral. In general, posts of any social initiatives in the neighbourhood are permitted, regardless of the political affiliation of the persons involved.  However, promotion of any political party or person is prohibited in Lokoro. Users should avoid any posts and comments promoting or disparaging any political party or person.      

 

Summary

Our community policies apply to every user and business on this platform and Lokoro is constantly reviewing these policies based on feedback from the community.  Lokoro reserves all rights to revise these policies as and when needed and users will be informed whenever they are updated.  By accepting these community policies, users also agree to unreservedly abide by any decisions Lokoro makes in taking down posts or removing users from the community.

While Lokoro endeavours to maintain a platform that adheres to the policies above, as a start-up with limited resources, we may not always be able to respond quickly to any breaches by users on the platform.  Ultimately, all users are personally responsible for their actions on the platform, and in accepting the Community Guidelines, users agree to indemnify Lokoro against any legal action resulting from their own actions or against other users on the platform.   

 

Lokoro’s mission is to build a safe and positive community that brings people and businesses together.  We can only achieve this if every user on Lokoro abides by the policies.  We appreciate your understanding and let us strive to build communities for good together!
